The Foundation currently has five charities that represent our core values. Each charity is picked based upon their mission, the impact they make, and how they touch the community. The Foundation donates to each charity on a quarterly basis.
These core charities are For the Child, The Birthday Party Project, STOMP Out Bullying, Starlight Children’s Foundation, and One World Children’s Fund.
FOR THE CHILD
For over 50 years For The Child has strengthened families, prevented the trauma of child abuse, neglect and exposure to violence and helped low-income children and families heal when it has occurred. These are local children. They live in our communities, go to our schools and play with our children and grandchildren.
Prevention and early intervention is critical to helping children lead happy and healthy lives. Many years of support from all sectors of the community allows them to offer professional prevention, education and treatment services for child sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, severe neglect, the impact of witnessing domestic or community violence, the victimization of human trafficking and other adverse childhood experiences. They provide court-based childcare, a 24/7 Child Abuse Response Team, help meet emergency needs and improve the daily lives of at-risk and abused low-income children and vulnerable families.
THE BIRTHDAY PARTY PROJECT
The Birthday Party Project’s mission is to bringing JOY to children experiencing homelessness through the MAGIC of a birthday celebration.
Today, more than 2.5 million children are living in shelter in the United States. For some, the rising cost of rent has forced their family out of their home. For others, a sudden family illness has been the difference in paying rent and providing care for a loved one. While their time in shelter is temporary, the goal is to bring a level of normalcy to the day to day by not letting milestones go unnoticed.
STOMP OUT BULLYING
STOMP Out Bullying™ is dedicated to changing the culture for all students. It works to reduce and prevent bullying, cyberbullying and other digital abuse, educates against homophobia, LGBTQ discrimination, racism and hatred, and deters violence in schools, online and in communities across the country. In this diverse world, STOMP Out Bullying promotes civility, inclusion and equality. It teaches effective solutions on how to respond to all forms of bullying, as well as educating kids and teens in school and online. It provides help for those in need and at risk of suicide, and raises awareness through peer mentoring programs in schools, public service announcements by noted celebrities, and social media campaigns.
STARLIGHT CHILDREN’S FOUNDATION
Starlight Children’s Foundation’s mission is delivering happiness to seriously ill kids and their families.
Hospitalization can be an emotional and stressful experience for children.
They ensure that hospitals are easy places for kids to be. Their vital services ease the boredom, distract from the endless pokes or pain, and inspire imagination to help kids feel better.
Because happy kids heal faster.
In 2023, Starlight impacted more than 3 million hospitalized kids and their families at 724 hospitals and care facilities across the US.
ONE WORLD CHILDREN’S FUND
One World was founded in 2000 by Bay Area residents, Shanti Cliff, Patricia 'Savitri' Burbank and Michael Kilgroe, who, while traveling in India, were inspired by the dedication of local organizations working to pull their own communities out of extreme poverty. When they returned home, they founded One World as a means to support the locally-led work they witnessed by grassroots organizations.
Two decades later, One World continues to help grassroots organizations overcome language, geographic, technological, and financial barriers to accessing philanthropic aid.
